So if we have to show women what the baby looks like in their womb and tell them how the process works before allowing them to get an abortion, does that mean we should teach our soldiers about the culture of the lands we’re invading, and explain to them that the people we want them to kill have families and feel pain, just like Americans?

yooooooo

OOP!

Depends..the difference between the two may be a matter of innocence; not to say that American soldiers haven’t done things considered unjust - killing of innocents, invading places where we aren’t wanted, etc - BUT - certainly there are instances where injustice does occur elsewhere (WW2 comes to mind) and the people whom American soldiers are sent to kill are not innocent in the sense that an unborn child is.  In the former case of killing innocent people, soldiers may unknowingly commit these acts through orders - explicitly stated or not (command tells them to kill innocent vs command telling soldier to kill x or the enemy, when they may be innocent)

In terms of teaching about culture, propaganda was likely produced to make Germany out to be a culture of supremacists who are trying to expand their territory to gain power, or any appeal to the any negative aspects of Nazi Germany, in order to motivate soldiers.

Also, soldiers already suffer from PTSD as a result of feeling guilty over lives they’ve taken, innocent or not, so I’m sure they are well aware that these people feel pain.  For soldiers who join the military out of desire to serve their country, they place their trust in the judgments of their superiors, and believe they are fighting for a good cause

Finally, the soldiers actually need to do the killing, whereas the surgeon takes care of that during the procedure

Most medical procedures are explained to the patient beforehand

I’m neither advocating nor rejecting this abortion requirement, just food for thought

Interesting metaphor though

Just because something is legal doesn’t mean its right? There’s tons of shitty things that are legal

One needn’t look anywhere else but to the legislative history of humanity (slavery, women’s suffrage, etc)  to shed some light on this

There is a reason why laws are subject to repeal

Sorry about the…

She was already extremely wealthy due to circumstance before the sex tape..would she be where she is today without the economic privilege she’s enjoyed her entire life? And tarnished or not, she gained a lot of publicity and attention from the tape..
